Local system crash via unchecked force-feedback initialization
Published May 27, 2026 · Updated May 27, 2026
Improper error handling in the Linux kernel PlayStation HID driver allows local users to crash the system through force-feedback effects. ps_gamepad_create() ignores a failed input_ff_create_memless() call and continues device registration instead of returning the error. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access, CONFIG_PLAYSTATION_FF, a supported controller path, and a force-feedback initialization failure; the bounded consequence is a kernel crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
