Kernel crash via uncanceled jack-detection work
Published May 27, 2026 · Updated May 27, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the Linux Kernel nau8821 ASoC codec driver allows local users to crash the kernel during driver unload. Component removal does not synchronously cancel delayed jdet_work, so the worker later enters DAPM and mutex code through removed driver state. Exploitation requires local access, the snd_soc_nau8821 driver, and pending jack-detection work during unload; the reported consequence is a kernel crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
