CVE-2026-45873

Local netfilter disruption via overlapping anonymous intervals

Published May 27, 2026 · Updated May 27, 2026

Improper input validation in affected Linux Kernel releases allows local users to disrupt netfilter with overlapping anonymous intervals. The nft_set_rbtree overlap check skips start elements in anonymous sets when userspace omits end elements for adjacent intervals, so it accepts A-B and A-C when C is less than B. Reaching the flaw requires low-privileged local access and the ability to submit nftables set elements; the published description does not identify a specific crash mode.
