Local kernel panic via deleted TAPRIO child
Published May 27, 2026 · Updated May 27, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the TAPRIO scheduler in Linux Kernel allows local users to crash the host through a crafted class dump. After a TAPRIO child qdisc is deleted, taprio_graft() leaves a NULL slot that taprio_dump_class() dereferences while reading the child handle. Triggering requires CONFIG_NET_SCH_TAPRIO and namespace-scoped CAP_NET_ADMIN; unprivileged user namespaces can provide that capability, resulting in a kernel panic.
