CVE-2026-45813

Memory corruption via unchecked BASS subgroup parsing

Published Jul 24, 2026 · Updated Jul 24, 2026

Out-of-bounds writes in Apache NimBLE through 1.9.0 allow physically proximate attackers to corrupt memory through crafted BASS PDUs. The Add Source parser accepts excessive subgroup counts and consumes subgroup fields without confirming enough PDU data remains, while Modify Source mis-sizes the one-byte Num_Subgroups field and also lacks adequate length checks. A paired Bluetooth peer within radio range is required, and malformed input can overflow a stack buffer or read beyond the PDU.
