Bogus GAP data via pointer-size offset error
Published Jul 24, 2026 · Updated Jul 24, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Apache NimBLE 1.9.0 and earlier allows attackers to deliver bogus advertising data to applications. The ble_hs_hci_evt_le_adv_rpt function advances between bundled reports using sizeof(rpt), the pointer size, instead of sizeof(*rpt), the report structure size. Reachability requires a third-party HCI controller that batches multiple legacy advertising reports; NimBLE's controller does not batch them.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
