Service crash via oversized watcher URI copy
Published Aug 4, 2026 · Updated Aug 4, 2026
Stack overflow in affected OpenSIPS versions before 3.6.6 and 4.0.0-rc1 allows remote attackers to crash a SIP worker. The create_winfo_xml() function in modules/presence/notify.c copies w->uri.len bytes into a 200-byte stack buffer without checking the watcher URI length. Exploitation requires reachable SUBSCRIBE routing with the presence and presence_xml modules loaded, and the verified consequence is a worker crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
