Remote disk exhaustion via unvalidated DHT records
Published Jun 10, 2026 · Updated Jun 10, 2026
Uncontrolled resource consumption in @libp2p/kad-dht before 16.2.6 allows remote attackers to exhaust server-node disk storage. verifyRecord returns without validation when a record key has fewer than three slash-delimited parts, after which PUT_VALUE handling persists the record while the RPC loop accepts an unbounded message stream. A reachable server-mode node and a standard libp2p TLS handshake are sufficient; filling the datastore partition makes the node unavailable.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
