Service interruption via unbounded DNP3 reassembly

Uncontrolled resource consumption in Suricata before 7.0.16 and 8.0.0 through 8.0.4 allows remote attackers to interrupt service via DNP3 traffic. The DNP3 parser reassembles attacker-controlled traffic without sufficient parser-level bounds, allowing buffered data to drive excessive memory consumption. Exposure requires DNP3 parsing, which is disabled by default, while an unlimited stream.reassembly.depth removes a separate bound.
