Denial of service via quadratic header parsing
Published Sep 10, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026
Uncontrolled resource consumption in Suricata before 7.0.16 and 8.0.0 through 8.0.4 allows remote attackers to interrupt service. During HTTP response body processing, HTTPParseContentDispositionHeader repeatedly reparses large Content-Disposition headers with quadratic cost. Any crafted HTTP traffic traversing an affected sensor can consume excessive CPU, degrading or denying its inspection availability without authentication.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
