Cross-site scripting via omitted URL attribute sanitization
Published Jul 14, 2026 · Updated Jul 14, 2026
Cross-site scripting in affected Symfony HTML Sanitizer releases allows attackers to execute script through sanitized untrusted HTML. UrlAttributeSanitizer::getSupportedAttributes() omits action, formaction, poster, and cite, so DomVisitor skips scheme validation and preserves javascript URIs. Exploitation requires a deliberately permissive attribute configuration; action and formaction payloads also require a victim to submit a form or click a button.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=>= 6.1.0-BETA1, < 6.4.40
- Affected versionversion=>= 7.0.0-BETA1, < 7.4.12
