Code execution via stored iconClass XSS

Published Aug 18, 2026 · Updated Aug 18, 2026

Stored XSS in note icon rendering in Trilium Notes before 0.103.0 allows attackers to execute code via a crafted #iconClass label. getNoteIcon() returns the #iconClass label raw, and quick_search.ts and note_autocomplete.ts interpolate it into HTML class attributes without attribute encoding before jQuery parses the markup. On desktop clients, opening a new tab or invoking Ctrl+J reaches the vulnerable rendering path, and Electron's nodeIntegration with disabled contextIsolation turns renderer script execution into OS-command execution as the logged-in user.
