Arbitrary file write via cache path traversal
Published Aug 13, 2026 · Updated Aug 13, 2026
Path traversal in OSCAL Compass Compliance-trestle before 3.12.2 and 4.0.0 through 4.0.2 allows remote authenticated users to write files. HTTPSFetcher and SFTPFetcher preserve ../ segments from a remote URL path when joining the cache directory, then write the response body to the resulting path. Exploitation requires an attacker-influenced OSCAL reference to be fetched, and writes are limited to locations permitted to the trestle process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
