CouchDB code execution via unvalidated calculation parameter
Published May 27, 2026 · Updated May 27, 2026
Code injection in Budibase before 3.38.1 allows remote authenticated users with Builder access to execute JavaScript in CouchDB. The V1 POST /api/views route passes the request body calculation value without Joi or SCHEMA_MAP validation, and viewBuilder interpolates it into a saved reduce definition that CouchDB evaluates. Builder permissions and a subsequent view query are required; execution remains inside the CouchDB sandbox but can read matching document values and return attacker-chosen data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
