Local agent crash via unchecked ELF offsets
Published Jun 2, 2026 · Updated Jun 2, 2026
Denial of service in OpenTelemetry eBPF Instrumentation before 0.9.0 allows local users to crash the telemetry agent with a malformed ELF. The fastelf path passes attacker-controlled section counts and offsets to ReadStruct and GetCStringUnsafe without complete bounds and nil checks. A local process owner must execute the ELF on a monitored Linux host; the resulting panic interrupts observability without reported data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
