Unauthenticated code execution via UPnP use-after-free
Published Jun 9, 2026 · Updated Jun 9, 2026
Use-after-free in Universal Plug and Play (upnp.dll) in Microsoft Windows allows remote attackers to execute code over a network. The library accesses an object after releasing its memory, but Microsoft has not published the affected object or lifetime sequence. Exploitation requires no authentication or user interaction and high attack complexity; success executes code in the affected service context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
