Authenticated file write and RCE via validator bypass
Published Jun 10, 2026 · Updated Jun 10, 2026
Improper input validation in Roxy-WI 8.2.6.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to write files and execute commands. The EscapedString Pydantic validator returns after stripping shell metacharacters, so affected values bypass the later '..' rejection and shlex.quote wrapping. Low-privileged network access to an affected field can reach file-write and os.system sinks, enabling file modification or command execution without user interaction.
