Device crash via oversized SRP6a username copy
Published Jun 10, 2026 · Updated Jun 10, 2026
Heap buffer overflow in ESP-IDF 5.2.6, 5.3.5, 5.4.4, 5.5.4, and 6.0 allows physically proximate attackers to crash devices over BLE. The handle_session_command0() handler narrows a client-supplied protobuf username length to size the heap buffer, then copies the raw, wider length into it. Reachability requires an active NimBLE BLE protocomm service using Security Scheme 2; the request precedes credential checks and corrupts shared heap data, interrupting the provisioning service and other tasks.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
