Temporary denial of service via aperture integer overflow
Published Sep 8, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026
An integer overflow in Android Media Framework versions 15, 16, 16-qpr2, and 17 allows remote attackers to cause a temporary service interruption. convertCleanApertureToRect in HeifCleanAperture.cpp allows aperture-coordinate arithmetic to overflow while processing HEIF clean-aperture metadata. No privileges or user interaction are required, and the reported consequence is limited to a temporary denial of service.
