CVE-2026-45388Network attack vector

Server impersonation via omitted TLS 1.3 usage checks

Published Jun 15, 2026 · Updated Jun 15, 2026

Improper certificate validation in OCaml-TLS before 2.1.0 allows remote attackers to impersonate TLS 1.3 servers with non-server certificates. The handshake_client13.ml answer_certificate path advances after validate_chain without calling the existing validate_keyusage check for KeyUsage and ExtendedKeyUsage restrictions. Exploitation requires a trusted-CA certificate with a matching SAN and control of the client's network destination, after which application data flows through an attacker-authenticated session.
