Unauthorized note-state changes via read-permission check
Published May 15, 2026 · Updated May 15, 2026
Incorrect authorization in Open WebUI before 0.9.3 allows remote authenticated users to change shared-note pin status via its API. The POST /api/v1/notes/{id}/pin handler checks read access before calling Notes.toggle_note_pinned_by_id, which changes is_pinned. Exploitation requires an authenticated user with explicit read access to a shared note and affects only its pin status, which is visible to users with access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
