Script execution via unescaped tooltip item name
Published May 25, 2026 · Updated May 25, 2026
Cross-site scripting in Apache ECharts before 6.1.0 allows context-dependent attackers to execute script through a Lines item name. LinesSeriesModel.formatTooltip passes each Lines item name as raw HTML to an innerHTML tooltip sink instead of routing the value through the markup builder's HTML encoding. Exploitation requires attacker-influenced chart data, the Lines series and tooltip, no custom tooltip.formatter, and display of the affected tooltip.
