Authenticated file relocation via path traversal
Published Jun 25, 2026 · Updated Jun 25, 2026
Path traversal in HTMLy through 3.1.1 allows remote authenticated users to move arbitrary server-writable files via the admin autosave endpoint. The /admin/autosave route passes the client-controlled oldfile value to file_exists() and rename() without canonicalization, ownership checks, or a content-directory boundary. Any low-privileged author account can target files writable by the web server process, causing unauthorized relocation or service interruption.
