Administrative account takeover via arbitrary field update
Published Mar 21, 2026 · Updated Mar 21, 2026
Improper access control in PbootCMS 3.2.0 through 3.2.12 allows remote authenticated users to modify administrator account fields. The backend UserController.php takes client-supplied field and value parameters and passes an unrestricted update expression to modUser. Any backend account able to reach the quick-modification route can replace a peer administrator's password hash, enabling account takeover.
