Identity spoofing via unanchored DN regex
Published Jul 14, 2026 · Updated Jul 14, 2026
Authentication bypass in Symfony before 5.4.52, 6.4.40, 7.4.12, and 8.0.12 allows remote attackers to authenticate as another user. X509Authenticator applies an unanchored regex to SSL_CLIENT_S_DN and accepts emailAddress= text embedded inside another RDN value as the user identifier. Exploitation requires an application using this mTLS authenticator and a certificate from its trusted CA whose free-text subject field can contain the victim identifier.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
