Authenticated session hijacking via unchecked session queries
Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026
Improper authorization in OpenAM 16.0.6 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to hijack other users' active sessions. SessionRequestHandler returns active session credentials for an attacker-supplied identity identifier without enforcing session ownership or privilege checks. Exploitation requires a valid low-privilege session, knowledge of the target identity identifier, an exposed session management endpoint, and stateful session storage.
