Administrative takeover via unchecked service-account import
Published May 29, 2026 · Updated May 29, 2026
Improper access control in RustFS before 1.0.0-beta.2 allows remote authenticated users to gain full administrative access via IAM import. The ImportIam handler provisions ZIP-supplied service accounts with attacker-controlled parent, claims, accessKey, and secretKey fields without AddServiceAccount safeguards. ImportIAMAction is required; exploitation binds a persistent chosen credential to the root identity, enabling control of buckets, IAM configuration, and administration.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
