Arbitrary file read via absolute template paths
Published May 28, 2026 · Updated May 28, 2026
Path traversal in Python Liquid before 2.2.0 allows attackers to read arbitrary files through crafted Liquid templates. FileSystemLoader and CachingFileSystemLoader pass absolute names from include and render tags to filesystem resolution without enforcing their configured search paths. Exploitation requires control of template source, and a targeted file must be readable by the application process and contain valid Liquid markup.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
