Directory deletion via unvalidated client URL traversal
Published May 15, 2026 · Updated May 15, 2026
Path traversal in phpMyFAQ before 4.1.2 allows remote authenticated users with INSTANCE_DELETE permission to delete server directories. Client::deleteClientFolder strips only the https:// prefix from a caller-controlled client URL, concatenates the remainder with clientFolder, and recursively deletes the unresolved path. Exploitation requires a multisite deployment with a non-primary instance and delegated INSTANCE_DELETE access; deletion is limited to directories writable by the PHP process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
