Unauthenticated WAF bypass via empty body parsing
Published Jul 16, 2026 · Updated Jul 16, 2026
Protection mechanism failure in CrowdSec AppSec 1.5.0 through 1.7.7 allows remote attackers to bypass body-scanning WAF rules. NewParsedRequestFromRequest allocates its body buffer from max(ContentLength, 0), replacing chunked HTTP/1.1 or lengthless HTTP/2 bodies with empty data before Coraza evaluation. No authentication is required; body-based rules are skipped and malicious payloads can reach the protected application, while URI- and header-only rules remain effective.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
