CVE-2026-44973Network attack vector

Arbitrary file access via incomplete boundary checks

Published May 28, 2026 · Updated May 28, 2026

Path traversal in go-git go-billy before 5.9.0 allows remote authenticated users to read or write files outside intended directories. ChrootOS and chroot helper checks fail to reject additional parent-path variants, while iofs.Open applies OS-dependent cleaning to slash-separated paths. Exploitation requires an application to pass attacker-controlled paths to an affected filesystem implementation and rely on that implementation for isolation.
