Terminal output spoofing via unescaped scan findings
Published May 27, 2026 · Updated May 27, 2026
Terminal escape injection in Datadog GuardDog 2.6.0 through 2.9.0 allows context-dependent attackers to spoof terminal or CI output. The finding formatter copies filenames, locations, messages, and code snippets into HumanReadableReporter, which prints them without escaping ANSI or OSC control bytes. Exploitation requires an analyst or CI job to scan a malicious package with human-readable output, enabling output erasure, rewriting, or deceptive links.
