Configuration redirection via injected dbt CLI flags
Published Jul 16, 2026 · Updated Jul 16, 2026
Argument injection in dbt Labs dbt MCP Server before 1.17.1 allows local users to redirect dbt configuration and execution. _run_dbt_command() splits node_selection or appends resource_type elements, then passes unchecked flag tokens to the dbt subprocess argument list. Exploitation requires MCP tool access and a host-accessible attacker-controlled profiles.yml, enabling dbt operations under substituted project, profile, or target settings.
