ImageScan denial of service via unchecked repository paths
Published Jun 30, 2026 · Updated Jun 30, 2026
Path traversal in the ImageScan subsystem of SUSE Rancher Fleet allows remote authenticated users to interrupt ImageScan service. The Fleet controller resolves gitrepo.Spec.Paths entries without checking that each result stays inside the temporary clone, so ScreeningLocalReader recursively walks external directories while holding a global ImageScan mutex. Attack requires RBAC permission to create or modify GitRepo resources; v0.15 deployments are exposed only when imagescan.enabled is true, while v0.12 through v0.14 register the controller unconditionally.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=0.12.0 <0.12.16
- Affected versionversion=0.13.0 <0.13.12
