Root file overwrite via unchecked keyhint path
Published Jul 2, 2026 · Updated Jul 2, 2026
Relative path traversal in SUSE libzypp before 17.38.12 allows attackers to write arbitrary files as root via a malicious repository. RepomdFileReader.cc accepts slash-containing keyhint values as gpg-pubkey filenames, allowing the resulting path to escape its intended location. Exploitation requires repository metadata consumed by a privileged package-management operation and can overwrite root-owned files or place attacker-chosen files on the system.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
