CVE-2026-44882Network attack vector

Authenticated Kubernetes resource access via missing return

Published May 28, 2026 · Updated May 28, 2026

Incorrect authorization in Portainer Community Edition 2.33.0 through 2.33.7 allows remote authenticated users to access Kubernetes resources. In kubeClientMiddleware, an error from security.RetrieveTokenData writes HTTP 403 but does not return, so the request proceeds with nil token data. A valid Portainer session and access to the Kubernetes middleware are required; the bypass permits reads and writes allowed to Portainer's cluster service account.
