CVE-2026-44836Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Internal template disclosure via inherited preview dispatch

Published May 26, 2026 · Updated May 26, 2026

Information disclosure in ViewComponent 3.0.0 through 4.8.0 allows remote authenticated users to render internal Rails templates through exposed previews. The preview route passes a URL-derived example name to public_send without restricting dispatch to methods declared by the preview class, making inherited render_with_template reachable with request-supplied template and locals values. Preview routes must be enabled and reachable; successful exploitation reads secrets, configuration, debug data, or request-derived values rendered by otherwise unroutable templates.
