Authenticated identity tampering via wrapped SAML assertions
Published Jun 9, 2026 · Updated Jun 9, 2026
XML signature wrapping in SAML authentication in SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP and ABAP Platform allows remote authenticated users to alter identity data. The verifier accepts modified signed XML documents while treating their tampered identity information as valid. Normal privileges and a valid signed message are required; accepted tampering grants unauthorized access to sensitive data, while SAP does not specify how application use is disrupted.
