Authenticated host command execution via Janino compilation
Published Jul 16, 2026 · Updated Jul 16, 2026
Code injection in Space Applications Services Yamcs before 5.12.7 allows remote authenticated users to execute host OS commands. JavaExprAlgorithmExecutionFactory passes algorithm text changed through the mission database REST API to Janino SimpleCompiler without a restrictive ClassLoader, allowing injected Java to invoke Runtime. Exploitation requires an active processor, a valid token with ChangeMissionDatabase privilege, and subsequent evaluation of the altered algorithm; successful execution grants control of the Yamcs host process environment.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
