Authenticated metadata disclosure via incomplete collection allowlist
Published May 15, 2026 · Updated May 15, 2026
Incorrect authorization in Open WebUI before 0.9.0 allows remote authenticated users to enumerate all knowledge-base metadata. The _validate_collection_access function checks ownership only for user-memory-* and file-* names, then accepts the knowledge-bases meta-collection unchecked. Any valid account can submit a retrieval query and receive cross-user knowledge-base UUIDs, names, and descriptions, but the flaw does not directly modify or delete data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
