OS command injection in Zed before 0.229.0 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code through AI agent terminal tool calls. The regex-based allowlist matches an allowlisted command after an inline environment assignment but fails to account for variables such as PAGER that make the command launch an attacker-selected program. Exploitation requires influence over an AI agent tool call and a configured allowlist whose matched command honors the injected environment variable.
