CVE-2026-44392Network attack vector

Authenticated unintended upgrades via missing permission check

Published May 20, 2026 · Updated May 20, 2026

Missing authorization in Six Apart Movable Type editions allows remote authenticated users to initiate upgrade processing. During an installed core or plugin upgrade, the upgrade path fails to require the appropriate permission before allowing a signed-in user to continue processing. A non-administrator account and a pending core or plugin upgrade are required, and the resulting impact is limited to unintended updates.
