Targeted account lockout via case-variant registration
Published Jun 2, 2026 · Updated Jun 2, 2026
Improper case handling in Aiven Klaw before 2.10.4 allows remote authenticated users to lock targeted accounts through registration. Registration compares usernames case-sensitively with Objects.equals, while login retrieves them through findByUsernameIgnoreCase, so a case-variant duplicate collides. Account-creation access is required; the collision blocks both users and prevents superadmins from deleting either account in the interface.
