Arbitrary file write via unchecked archive symlinks
Published May 8, 2026 · Updated May 8, 2026
Path traversal in PraisonAI before 4.6.37 allows attackers to write arbitrary files by supplying a crafted .praison archive. The _safe_extractall helper checks member names but neither validates link targets nor rejects link members before tar.extractall follows an escaping symlink. Exploitation requires a malicious bundle to reach recipe pull, publish, or unpack; the resulting write is limited by the PraisonAI process's filesystem permissions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
