Code execution via unchecked MCP file paths
Published May 8, 2026 · Updated May 8, 2026
Path traversal in PraisonAI before 4.6.34 allows attackers to read, write, or delete files and execute code through MCP tools/call. The MCP dispatcher forwards unvalidated arguments to default file handlers that join attacker-controlled names beneath ~/.praison/rules without resolving and enforcing containment. Reachability requires an MCP-connected model or access to the unauthenticated loopback HTTP transport; a written Python .pth file executes with the user's privileges when a later Python process starts.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
