Authenticated RBAC bypass via unchecked transaction Put options
Published May 14, 2026 · Updated May 14, 2026
Incorrect authorization in affected etcd releases allows remote authenticated users to read restricted data or attach unauthorized leases. The transaction authorization path omitted checkPutAuth checks for PrevKv and Lease, allowing those options to return a prior value or bind a lease outside the account's permissions. Exploitation requires direct etcd access, built-in RBAC, and a restricted account; typical Kubernetes deployments do not use this authorization path.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=< 3.4.44
