Administrator escalation via unchecked group assignment
Published May 12, 2026 · Updated May 12, 2026
Privilege escalation in Requarks Wiki.js before 2.5.313 allows remote authenticated users with manage:users to gain site administration. The users.update resolver forwards the groups array to updateUser, which relates every supplied group ID without checking the caller or blocking system groups. The manage:users permission and re-authentication are required; assigning group 1 then produces a fresh JWT with full manage:system access.
