Local file disclosure via symlinked pipeline discovery
Published May 12, 2026 · Updated May 12, 2026
Link following in Jo-Jo98 ciguard 0.8.0 through 0.8.1 allows context-dependent attackers to expose files outside a requested scan root. The discover_pipeline_files() function in src/ciguard/discovery.py tracks resolved paths for cycle prevention but still descends through symlinked files and directories and returns pipeline-shaped paths beyond the root. Exploitation requires a planted symlink and a user or AI agent to scan its containing directory; subsequent scan calls can disclose readable pipeline-file content.
