Expanded container escape impact via root execution
Published May 12, 2026 · Updated May 12, 2026
Improper privilege management in ciguard 0.1.0 through 0.8.1 allows local users with high privileges to amplify a container-runtime escape. The published ghcr.io/jo-jo98/ciguard image inherits UID 0 because its Dockerfile starts the application without a USER directive. The condition is not directly exploitable and only increases host confidentiality and integrity impact when a separate escape primitive is available.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
