Code execution via unvalidated activation script path
Published Jul 22, 2026 · Updated Jul 22, 2026
Command injection in the Ansible Lightspeed VS Code extension allows attackers to run commands by opening a crafted project. The extension accepts the workspace-level ansible.python.activationScript value as a file path and passes it into command execution without proper validation. Execution requires a user to open the project or run a playbook, and commands inherit the VS Code process privileges.
